Couples tend to look alike; Biology or Coincidence?

People in relationships tend to look like their mate after a while. The longer they are together, the more alike they look. Do you think there is a biological reason, or just concidence? Please defend or explain your answer.Couples tend to look alike; Biology or Coincidence?
There are several ideas behind this theory.

A. You are attracted to people like yourself because you have similar reproductive capacities and will both try to maximize them

B. You don't start off resembling your mate, you come to resemble your mate due to similarities in environment, lifestyle and eating habits

C. Optimal inbreeding hypothesis - we are attracted to those individual that look like us in a way similar to inclusive fitness. Those individuals who look most like us, share the most genes with us, and the next generation will have more copies of those genes. Important to note, that research does not support this theory (women tend to seek genetic diversity in offspring while men try to coopt women into exclusivity).Couples tend to look alike; Biology or Coincidence?
